It is not uncommon for one to feel alone, misunderstood, or unheard. These are feelings that are a part of the human experience. However, these feelings can cause us much distress, impairment and overall dysfunction in our lives. This is where therapy can be a support. Taking the steps to start your therapy journey can be the hardest to make, but you are here and already taking steps towards progress!
In my therapeutic approach, I work to create a safe, judgement-free environment for my clients to explore these feelings, and much more. In session my goal as your therapist is to help you in your journey to better explore and understand your identity, your experiences both past and present, and your relationships. For me the therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance. Therefore, it is a priority that I establish a collaborative and strong relationship with each of my clients.
My therapeutic approach is an integrative approach that is grounded in the psychodynamic and CBT theories, coupled with a trauma-informed approach. I utilize interventions from certain theories that may best fit the client and their therapeutic goals for a more individualized approach. I have experience working with a diverse client population including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. I also gained experience through internship working with a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, identity-related issues, sexuality, LGBTQIA+ -related challenges, relationship challenges, life transitions, and career transitions.
One of my career priorities is to serve and give back to BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, as I have the privilege of belonging to both. I understand that many of my fellow community members have not had the best experiences with therapy or with receiving quality mental health care. But it is my goal to be a part of the change that can allow BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ people to have better therapeutic experiences that lead to better therapeutic outcomes.
