  • We provide only psychotherapy. If you are currently abusing alcohol or other substances, have an active eating disorder, are actively suicidal, have been recently hospitalized, or need help stabilizing your primary needs such as food and housing, you need treatment and services that Brooklyn Psychotherapy does not provide - such as Case Management, Detoxification or Rehab, or a Psychiatrist on staff, among other supports.

You deserve to have all the supports you need and we don’t feel it would be ethical for us to take on patients that need more than we can offer. In these cases, we suggest that you visit NYC’s emergency services page: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/health/health-topics/crisis-emergency-services.page or call 911.

We believe in a harm reduction model, however, substances like fentanyl and xylazine are currently found in many drugs in NYC, making drug use potentially life threatening at any time. We would encourage you to stabilize any dependency issues before beginning psychotherapy. NYC has resources and information at https://www.nyc.gov/site/doh/health/health-topics/alcohol-and-drug-use-services.page or you can call 988 24/7 for assistance and resources.

If you are actively suicidal, you should call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.

  • At this time, as one of the only practices accepting insurances, we often have very few appointments available for new patients.  There is a much greater need for our services than appointments available.   However, appointments do become available and fill up very quickly. Please complete the Appointment Request above and ONLY if we have an appointment available, we will reach out to you within 48-72 hours. If you have not been contacted after 72 hours, please feel free to contact us or complete a new request after a few weeks.

Unfortunately, we are no longer able to keep a waitlist, if you have previously reached out and have not been placed/contacted, please feel free to email us again.

    Thank you for your patience.

  • Like most of NYC, we have returned to at least some in-person sessions, with a new openness and flexibility toward telehealth. At the moment, although a few of our therapists are seeing clients in-person, we are still mostly offering telehealth sessions due to a great desire from our clients to continue providing therapy in this way. If you’re interested in in-person sessions, but have been placed with a therapist via telehealth, please make sure to let us or your therapist know of your interest, so that we can continue to track your preference while planning ahead.

  • We always recommend that you speak first with your therapist about your concerns. Although these conversations can be uncomfortable, they can often lead to a deepening of the relationship with your therapist. If you still feel that your therapist isn’t the right fit for you, please reach out to our office at
office@brooklynpsychotherapy.org so we can try to match you with someone else.

  • While we do not provide Medication Management in house at Brooklyn Psychotherapy, we are excited to partner with Williamsburg Therapy Group starting in 2022 to provide our clients with Medication Evaluation & medication management with priority scheduling and discounted pricing with their excellent team of Physicians. Please click here for more information. If you are in crisis, rather than attending Brooklyn Psychotherapy, we recommend that you attend therapy at a place where they have psychiatrists on staff in order to more closely follow your progress.

  • If you are a Health Professional, to refer a new patient to our practice, please have them complete the Appointment Request.

Please note that we do NOT provide the following services:

    • Case management

    • Medication Management

    • Housing/benefits services

Due to overwhelming number of calls, we do not accept referrals by phone.
