Seeking therapy can be a big step, sometimes challenging but always courageous. It's about understanding your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors without any judgment, which is essential for growth, healing, and better connections with others. My goal is to create a therapeutic environment that's compassionate and non-judgmental, where you can freely express your deepest thoughts and feelings.
You're the expert on your own life—that's something your unique experiences have earned you. In therapy, it's crucial to honor your strengths and resilience. The space we create together welcomes and explores all aspects of who you are, ensuring every part of your identity feels safe and valued. My role is to support you through collaboration, reflection, and guidance. My practice is rooted in identity affirmation, intersectional justice, harm reduction, pleasure, embodiment, and intentionality, and acknowledges how systemic barriers affect your wellness. In a world that often leaves us feeling anxious or disconnected, choosing to understand yourself and make positive changes is a radical act of resilience.
My previous experience as an actor centers my therapeutic style around your unique story. Just as an actor cannot play a character without nonjudgmental empathy for the character itself, we can't truly live to our fullest potential if we examine, judge, and punish ourselves. Part of our journey together involves gaining insight into unconscious patterns and past experiences and how they shape your current relationships and emotional responses. By learning to examine and accept these influences without the barrier of judgment, we can develop healthy coping mechanisms, a better understanding of your values, problem-solve, and shift perspectives that empower you to live in a way that honors your truest self. The delicate balance of awareness without judgment can also help you move through moments of life that feel hardest to accept or understand.
I draw from psychodynamic, attachment-based, mindfulness, family systems, and behavioral approaches and tailor each session to reflect your unique needs. I've worked with clients experiencing grief and loss, emotional dysregulation, anger issues, depression, anxiety disorders, family issues, intimate partner issues, and life transitions. A particular area of interest and specialized experience for me lies in working with adult and child survivors of abuse. Through this work, I have come to believe that the core of our work lies in our therapeutic relationship; Irvin Yalom, an existential psychiatrist, and therapist known for his contributions to contemporary psychotherapy, stated that “the act of revealing oneself fully to another and still being accepted may be the major vehicle of therapeutic help,” –which is to say that insight gleaned through the unique nature of the therapeutic bond can lead to the most meaningful change because it is rooted in acceptance. As a therapist, I consider it the deepest and most sacred privilege to walk beside you on your path.
