Beginning therapy can be tough for many reasons and I want to applaud you for bravely taking the steps to embark on this journey, together. Whether you are seeking to start therapy for yourself, your child, or your teen, my main goal as your therapist is to jointly cultivate a space where you feel safe, seen, heard, accepted, and empowered. As we do not rush a butterfly out of its cocoon, I invite you to embrace your individual therapy process and trusting that this new non-linear journey will be just as beautiful as your desired destination.
My foundation as a therapist centers on my view that our humanity comes with layers and that therapy should be an integrative process that values multidimensional wellness. I have a deep appreciation of inclusive orientations and methods that inform my work such as holistic lens, strength-based, person-centered, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, community-orientated, mindfulness, psychodynamic, relational, play, mind-body connection, and attachment approaches. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and family and parent-child therapies. As I embrace a collaborative approach in therapy and with you as the expert of your life, I welcome us working together to tailor interventions to best suit you and your unique needs.
I have experience working with diverse populations and areas of focus including child and adolescent mental health, parent-child relational challenges, parenting concerns, family and intergenerational themes, navigating emerging adulthood, racial and cultural experiences, sexual orientation and gender identity explorations, first-generation and immigration obstacles, trauma/PTSD, emotion dysregulation, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, ADHD, interpersonal difficulties, academic and work-related stress, affected self-esteem, life transitions and more. Given my identities, experiences, and passion, I am especially dedicated to providing accessible and quality care to BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and other historically oppressed communities.
Wherever you are finding yourself in starting this chapter right now, I commend your courage and honor the privilege of sharing this experience with you - as you are not alone. To promote comfort, I bring my warmth, empathy, thoughtfulness, support, openness, and enjoyment of humor into the session.
